A story about three women, betrayed by those whom they loved.
Gabrijela seems to have a perfect life as a teacher with a kind husband, but she leaves him due to the demons of her past. Anastazija, a widowed housewife, lives alone, having spent her life serving her possessive husband. Watching her neighbours, she longs to settle old scores and find peace. Katarina, fleeing her abusive husband, works in a laundry and tries to find joy for herself and her son, David. Their lives intersect when Katarina moves into her aunt’s house, becoming Anastazija's neighbour, and Gabrijela becomes David's teacher.
All three women had unfulfilled dreams and were betrayed by those they loved. They suffered most at home, while their men were shielded by family and society. Mihaela Gašpar gives a voice to those who remain silent, ashamed of their scars, and fearful for their lives. Shifting Dreams reveals an "invisible" world around us that we must recognise and change.

This author presents a unique voice on the local literary scene: thoughtful, powerful, and filled with anxiety as she removes the rose-colored glasses and introduces us to the reality. — Jelena Kontić
