The Twilight State
The Twilight State is the third and the concluding part of Sibila Petlevski's trilogy Taboo, which ties the loose ends - character- and story-wise - from the previous two novels, Time of Lies and We Had Such a Nice Time! Her protagonist Viktor Tausk is a visionary, a man ahead of his time, just as the real historical person was. All the questions we still cannot answer started during his tragic, thrilling and precarious life. The past and the present intersect at most unlikely points, revealing the twilight as a constant in the lives of people burdened with inhibitions, politics, race, religion, sex, and almost any other issue. Viktor Tausk is the emblematic figure of our times, a man ready to pioneer new worlds, intrepid in his pursuit of the other, and even more importantly, a man who dared to question himself and the others.
The Twilight State is one of the ultimate challenges for the reader, as it makes us think hard about ourselves and people around us, about the world we live in, about the permanent twilight with no one to light it up for us. Instead, the torch is ours to light and scatter the darkness for ourselves.
The Taboo trilogy is dedicated to the brave, to those who reject to live in the time of lies, to people who are not afraid of freedom.
